What happens if you and your neighbours don’t speak the same language? In Belgium, musicians might find themselves in this situation. The project Salut Les Voisins – Jazz bij de Buren (in English: Jazz at the Neighbours) is a bridge between the jazz scene in Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels.

The music platforms JazzLab and FAZZ, the export agency WBM and VI.BE, Support Centre for artists and the music industry in Flanders, joined forces to present the cream of Belgian jazz from the other side of the language border to a wide audience: programmers and press from the opposite language border, together with a delegation of international jazz professionals.
Four projects represented French-speaking jazz at the Leuven Jazz festival from March 19 to 21, 2025. On the other hand, four Dutch-speaking bands will be performing at the Gaume Jazz Festival on August 9 and 10, 2025!
We’re happy to announce the second part in this first edition of an ambitious project to blur the linguistic boundaries of Belgian jazz and invite each linguistic community to take a look at what’s happening on the other side of the fence.
